#SHOWYOURSATWA at Off The Wall with Moreish by K!

#SHOWYOURSATWA at Off The Wall with Moreish by K!

Celebrate Satwa’s vibrant neighbourhood in an unforgettable night

2nd of March 2023 – Off The Wall, the urban speakeasy cocktail bar at Hotel Indigo Dubai Downtown, is paying homage to the bright lights and the bustling streets of the neighbourhood Satwa.

Celebrate Satwa on March 18th 2023 at #SHOWYOURSATWA where OFF THE WALL will be hosting with Dubai Old School original Moreish by K a night dedicated to nostalgia and the memories of this neighbourhood.

Come and show off your Satwa by bringing an item, dress, or memoir that represents your dearest memories of the time while immersing yourself completely in the theme from special cocktails, street food, to a DJ spinning the Old School and R&B classics you grew up with all night long.

Moreish by K will be designing a whole menu of street food revolving around creativity as well as storytelling, inspired by her fondest foodie memories growing up in Dubai, where she spent many days hanging out with friends in Satwa, from juice joints through to cafeterias. Kunwal promises the snacks to be bursting with flavour, blending contemporary and well-loved street food dishes for a landscape of food that is truly diverse and exclusive to our tables.

The creative energy flows not only in the street food and art on the walls, but also in the cocktails specially curated for the event. For this night only, all signature cocktails will be inspired by Satwa, such as a Laban Up inspired Drink, the cocktail famously known as ‘Nokia 63’ as well as others like ‘Abood’ & the infamous Bullfrog. There are more surprises, as mixologists will push their creative boundaries to serve up crafted beverages worthy of the ‘gram.

Kunwal best describes Satwa as ‘everyone seems to be doing something to the other and also chilled as if nothing at all’ as she grew up with a variety of memories with both her family and friendship circle, such as heading to her grandma’s favourite haberdashery shop purchasing anything from buttons to fabrics or bought hampers at one of the first luxury chocolate shops there ‘Patchi’.

Guests will begin their journey before entering the bar Off the Wall, with the entrance ceiling light installation “Tokyo meet Dubai” designed by locally based artist Maxime Cramatte of Satwa 3000. The installation is a fusion of Tokyo craziness and Satwa’s inspired design, that creates a powerful entrance experience with a futuristic twist. Then they will discover the artworks of Syrian artist Baseen Rayynes who has painted two of his striking murals directly on the walls. The rest of the walls have distressed brick effect, upon which is layered the Graffiti artwork by Paul Bruwer of The Domino art collective. Wall art and graffiti in Off The Wall reflect Dubai’s recognition of these mainstream forms of art, that are nowadays as important as art exhibited in museums and galleries.

Off The Wall is an ultimate speakeasy urban bar which can only be found in an ultra-urban city like Dubai.
