LEVA Hotels Continues to Strengthen Their Ongoing Environmental Responsibility

The brand collected more than 300kg of plastics during the One Root, One Communi-tree initiative.

21st June 2022, Dubai, Travel & Markets – LEVA Hotels brings focus to increasing its environmental responsibility during the early months of 2022 by successfully collecting more than 300kg of plastics.

From January 2022 to May 2022, LEVA partnered up with Emirates Environmental Group to work on one of their biggest initivaties, ‘One Root, One Communi-tree (OROC).’  In order to bolster environmental accountability, LEVA Hotels staff members signed up to understand the importance of recycling. Commencing in 2010, Emirates Environmental Group introduced the OROC initiative as an annual event. The initiative links itself to the recycling programme “For Our Emirates We Plant” and gives members the opportunity to plant trees under their name. The member must deposit a target amount of recyclable materials, which can include paper, plastic, aluminium, glass and mobile phones, during a two-week period.

Founded in 1991, Emirates Environmental Group devotes themselves to protecting the environment through community involvement, education and action programmes with members, including students, individuals, families, corporate members and businesses.

As a result of the large collection gained, the Emirates Environmental Group awarded LEVA Hotels with a certificate of appreciation and the opportunity to plant three trees at the end of this year.

LEVA’s hotel manager Mr. Thomas Kurian  said “At LEVA Hotels we take pride in our continuing effort to support environmental sustainability. Our associates demonstrated the environment initiative by taking part in the Clean Up UAE Campaign in 2021.  Our latest initiative of plastic collection has reinforced our commitment to this cause and we look forward to planting the LEVA trees towards the end of the year.  Thank you EEG for giving us this opportunity.”

The hotel also uses eco-friendly amenities, such as giving guests a paperless digital check-in and check-out alongside the eco-friendly amenities placed in each room. LEVA also encourage guests to purchase the brand’s mugs, which reduce plastic bottle usage.
